Derek Hall
Chairman

Current CEO of Qivana, Derek Hall's career has been focused on growing sales revenues and profitability for a variety of industry leaders. He has served as President and CEO for Nature’s Way, Botanicals International, Integrative Therapeutics, Unigen USA and Univera. In addition, he served as Vice-President and CEO of ECONET, Inc.

 

John Gay
President

Gay was most recently senior vice president, government affairs and public policy, for the National Restaurant Association. While there, he was responsible for establishing and leading industry coalitions dealing with a range of issues, including the adoption of a national standard for nutrition information on restaurant menus. He was also responsible for the association's political and fundraising programs, and oversaw one of the largest political action committees in the country.

 
 

David Matteson
Treasurer

David Matteson has dedicated his career to advancing healthy ideas, services, and products into the marketplace. He is the co-founder of pH Sciences, and focuses his creative energy on his consulting practice, Early-Edge Solutions. Matteson serves on a variety of national advisory boards that strive to ensure consumer access and choice to effective healthcare services and healthy products. He holds academic degrees in biology/engineering, education, public health, and public policy and planning.

 

 

James D. Weir
Secretary

President and CEO of Primus Pharmaceuticals, Weir led various prescription and OTC drug and medical device businesses for Procter & Gamble (P&G) and later The Kendall Company’s former home healthcare subsidiary, Kendall-Futuro. At Kendall-Futuro, Mr. Weir was the Vice President of Marketing & Product Development. He has extensive experience in entrepreneurial management, marketing, sales, and product development.  He graduated from Harvard Business School with an MBA and from Augustana College with a BS in Business and Accounting.

 
 

Carilyn Anderson

Carilyn Anderson is a Sales Executive of Carlson Laboratories. Anderson received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Michigan State University in 1991, with minors in Psychology and Education. Carilyn is an active member of the Natural Products Associations, and currently serves as Supply Committee Chair.

 

 

Jane Drinkwalter

After a degree in nutrition from San Diego State University, Jane Drinkwalter began her career in the natural products industry in 1973 as a manager of a natural foods store.  She expanded her sales career as a broker, manufacturer and eventually sales executive.  She helped establish Vitamer Labs as the industry leader of private label supplements for the natural products industry.  Jane has been with Vitamer Labs since 1988 and founded VitaCeutical Labs in 1996 and is currently Vice President, Sales.  She has served as Treasurer and Supply Chair on the National Board for the Natural Products Association.

 

 

Peter Hafermann

Peter Hafermann is currently employed as president of Alix Technologies (a subsidiary of Pharmachem Labs), a manufacturer of beverage and personal care products. Prior to his current role he served as president of Aloecorp for a 3 year period. Mr. Hafermann also worked at BI Nutraceuticals in Long Beach, California, a manufacturer, marketer and distributor of herbal powders and extracts, where he served in positions of increasing responsibility, including president.

 
 

Skye Lininger

Dr. Skye Lininger has been in the nutritional supplement industry since 1977. He is the Founder and President of Aisle7 (formerly Healthnotes), the leading provider of science-based information on natural products. His experience includes ten years of practice as a Doctor of Chiropractic, as an assistant professor of nutrition, as an author of over a dozen books, and as Chairman of the Board of both Bastyr University and Western States Chiropractic College.

 
 

Pat Sardell

Pat Sardell is the co-owner and operator of Country Vitamins, an independent store in Corvallis, Oregon. Sustaining and growing her business since 1982, she was an active participant in the efforts to pass the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994, DSHEA, and is committed to protecting that important legislation. She has served on the Natural Products Association board of directors since 2000.  A long-time NPA member, Sardell began her term as association president in 2009 and will continue to serve in that capacity through June 2011.
